A MELTON West man has plunged 15m to his death after falling through a Lysterfield factory roof on Friday, triggering a WorkSafe investigation.

Belgrave police Sergeant Jo Hayden said the 58-year-old man was called to fix the roof of the Montague Cold Storage factory at 10am.

Sgt Hayden said the man fell through the roof and dropped 15m.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said the man had severe back and chest injuries, and was taken to Dandenong Hospital in a critical condition.

The man died shortly after.
