When inspecting racking, a common issue our expert inspectors look for is uprights that are out of plumb and deflected beams. The presence of which can be an indicator of overloading. Stressed beams and uprights can lead to racking collapse if not identified and actioned appropriately (removal of stock and/ or replacing damaged beams and uprights.)

Signs of Racking under stress include:

  1. Uprights out of Plumb  (leaning into the aisle or side to side) and
  2. Beams Deflecting (bending down or in)

Independent Racking & Audits inspectors can advise on the difference between normal and engineered beam deflection and damaged beams and recommend appropriate action. Online training to aid in internal identification of out of plumb uprights and beam deflection is also available.
