Importance of OHS at workplace

OHS or occupational health and safety if effectively managed requires a workplace safety system.

All Australian companies are responsible for the welfare and security of their employees.
As per the nature of the business and the kind of risk involved with the work, workplace risk assessment plans need to be put in place.

Obviously, risk factor differs with greatly from industry to industry, and the Australian Government suggests that an effective way to create and maintain a healthy and safe work environment for organisations would be to integrate OHS risk management into their operations. The decision of what kind of risk management is required is based on OHS risk assessment.

It is never easy to work out a plan for executing effective OHS management in a company, before working out a plan for how OHS risk assessment is to be done.

The assessment incorporates identification of the hazard, level of risk involved and the necessary steps taken for correcting the situation. Having a workplace safety system – an OHS system in place allows for a much easier execution of the risk assessment.
